Album Info:Norfolk Southern Harrisburg Division Freight Line CP HA557 Oneonta, NY 18 April 2016 - 16:00 EDT NS 90M (nb Rail train) NS #9318 [GE Dash 9-40CW] NS #1025 [EMD SD70ACe] So, I'm in Oneonta ferrying a friend to the doctors office, when I notice the CP-HA557 signals lit. I turn on the scanner and catch the MP561 "Otego" defect detector calling out a train. I drop my friend off with the a hasty "see you in 20 minutes" and I take off for the Lutz Feed siding which was closest to my location. I get there just in time to hear a track crew pulling their equipment in to the clear so a warrant for the track can be issued to NS90M. I hear "rail train". Well, do I wait for it to pass me or go to a better location? I decide screw it, and I took off for Pony Farm road overgrade to get my shots. NS90M was l already underneath but had to wait just south of the signal until the track was clear, so I was able to run up and back getting the crew and the locomotives in different locations. Then, with the track warrant released for the work crew, NS90M pulled north into the yard. Naturally, I didn't have my good cameras with me as I had not planned on railfanning, so we're stuck with these iPhone shots. © 2016 - Philip M. Goldstein
