| Album Info: | Strictly off the cuff. Didn't know it was coming. Deb & I (and Bugsy the dog) were on our way to Sonic to get burgers; when Deb spotted the heritage unit from US79 and about 1/3 mile away on the other side of large field, in shadow no less.
It was just sitting still, so I made a right at the next road and drove to the crossing.
Sure enough, holding just short of the crossing was UP2564. I notices 41.2 signal was displaying a clear, so I waited a few moments for them to move.
After sitting about 10 minutes with no movement, I approached the unit and the conductor swung down. They thought I was coming to complain about a blocked crossing and were they were most relieved (seriously) that I was "just a railfan".
Introductions and acquaintances were made with Mark Grimes (engineer) and Joshua Price (conductor)
They were held up for MOW further north, and being almost 11,000 feet, this was the least objectionable location to hold up at, without blocking a lot of crossings.
We shot the bull for about 20 minutes and I left to grab the burgers and shoot them crossing over I-45, which as you can see, was a success!
