Album Info:BNSF Gulf Division / Houston Subdivision MP 159.6 - Normangee House Track 08 September 2013 BNSF 752 (nb) BNSF #752 BNSF #5433 BNSF #5298 p/u [D.I.C] Northbound 752 received instructions to pick up #5298 as "dead in consist" in Normangee. The day before, the local volunteer fire department responded to this locomotive to put out what was listed as an electrical fire. However, the conductor on calling the DS111 dispatcher, read off a tag that stated the locomotive was to be hauled dead in consist, with no speed restriction due to a broken pinion on number three axle. After attempting to connect the brake hoses, the conductor deemed the hoses were two short. The engineer came down, concurred, and they call the dispatcher to inform them that they would not be able to haul the locomotive in their consist. Then the dispatcher said to stand by, he would call the maintenance department to see if they would run them out two long airhoses. Deb & I chose not to hang around as it was getting real hot. Later that afternoon, 5298 would come north past where I was in Flynn, without the dead locomotive. However, I would see this locomotive come through on a northbound the next day.
